Lamb Pie
This goes so well with classic English bitters. The best recommendation would be to have this with a local bitter. Any beer that is slightly sweeter than the average bitter goes really well, but here is a real chance to support your local bitter. The supermarkets are now really good at stocking local beers, so go for it, buy two or three, and have a bit of fun doing your own tasting. If you want to take some of the nationally available beers, then choose one of the standard bitter at under 4% abv from your supermarket shelves.
Alastair Scott’s Recommended Beer matches
Bath Ales Gem – A great ale – just well
balanced and with not too much hop for
the beer.
Black Sheep – So named because the owner
is called Theakston and deserted the family brewery. An absolute classic English ale.
Washburn Bitter – Slightly sweeter than the
other ales.
